There were some really nice bikes and strong riders. I wish the streamliners would have raced in more than just the 200m. Hopefully next year we can get more faired bikes on the track.

Greg:

Let's coordinate before next year's event. I will bring my 8 year old son too.

I had a great time up there at Hellyer. It was fun to meet some new people, and reunite with old ones. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet everyone I would have liked to. I would have liked to talk with Rick Putich now that I have figured out that he was the pilot of the super long recumbent. I did get an excellent picture of Rick giving me the peace sign while doing a warm-up ride. Also I missed not having some competitors on the track like Peter Borenstadt, and Mark King. Well, there's always next year.

We had a blast. Our rider rode the Bacchetta Strada for the first time Friday late afternoon,.

Being compiled by George and Carol. I will probably be posting them up whenever I get them. It was definitely a fun event.

Larry, If memory serves me Greg passed us 16 times in 30 minutes! My goodness.

Drafting for me was out of the question, Greg was simply too fast, and you and Phil were just too low to the ground, I must say though I enjoyed the fast laps when I was sandwiched between you and Phil, sure would be a great photo if someone has it.....

Great weather and good time.....

Greg Thomas kicks ass in his Quest. Such speed in the half hour race.
While Phil Plath puts it to the rest of us.

Larry,

It's funny you mentioned the Encino trip, I was thinking about the same thing. It was 5 years ago...

I picked up a stinking cold on the flight home (probably) so I wont be racing Saturday.

I am going stir crazy being without a bike in Italy with all these fantastic roads. First chance to ride the trike for me since DMD will be on the morning of the event :)

Weren't you at the Encino velodrome dropping off Christina at college just a couple of years ago? Must have been more than a couple.

So what events are planned for Hellyer? Our rider is excited about recumbent racing.
Larry Lem Posted - 05/01/2012 : 13:22:31
Tom Amick and I are determing whether to drive back that night as the public is invited to ride the course of the ToC final stage in downtown LA before the race.

I've bugged others in my cycling club (upright) down here to make the drive for one chance to ride fast on a velodrome, but none are interested. Too far.
