I think it'd be funny if we never started another thread for the WHPSC and just let this one grow to 50 pages with 30 different topics. ha ha ha!!!!

JCG, please start a fresh thread so we can keep that of your event.

Hi Al,
Thank you for confirming the WHPSC 2015 dates. We hope we can avoid overlapping with your event.

Sorry I'm late to reply, we've been working many hours lately.... WHPSC 2015 will be Sept 14-18 as Jun said, we plan to use the second Monday of September as a guide for the future dates.

psst, it would have been better to have started a new topic rather than putting this in the BM2014 results thread.

Thank you all for your answers and advices!
Do you know if Al and Alice connect frequently to the recumbents.com forum?

Here is a possible site for the speed races (Voie Georges Pompidou):
https://www.google.fr/maps/@48.840617,2.2683896,3a,75y,37.73h,90.35t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sGD-WVn80DDQmnS9WT0L2Hg!2e0
=> this one looks good to me, heading to the Eiffel tower!

Another site is located on the other side of the Seine in a very central part of Paris. Here is the sharpest turn:
https://www.google.fr/maps/@48.863034,2.3184347,3a,75y,287.54h,81.65t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sIUcI5TdOXf0IYgUt_yKm6A!2e0
I guess it is too sharp? For the Varna, the Eivie? Maybe it would be taken at 60 kph.

The aim, of course, is not too break records. Reaching 90-100 kph would be fine enough for the public and to get good videos and pictures for the media coverage.

@Steve, I was not asking the IHPVA to change the BM dates! I just wanted to know if they have already been defined and the constraints the organizers have to choose these dates.

The money and the legal authorizations (two small details...) are our main constraints. But not overlapping with Battle Mountain 2015 is another one in order to allow BM participants who would like to join our event to do so.

On our side, it is very likely we won't be able to choose the dates as we have planned to join an existing event organized every year in September.

Barbara is a friend of mine! I am sure she will participate... if she is not in Battle Mountain in the meantime.

@SpeedBiker: If we can set up the event we will have a budget to participate to your travel expense and accommodation costs in Paris. It is too soon to say if will be part or all but it is one of the highest priority in our budget.

Again, we will confirm the event when we have the money or cancel it by the end of the year.

not likely an established event would change their date to accommodate a one off promotion event

A well known french record setting woman, Barbara Buatois, may be interested in your event

Hi,
We would like to organize HPV speed races in Paris along the Seine river in September 2015 (middle of the month). It would be more a mediatised event than an opportunity to break records. Anyway, I think it would be interesting for both riders and HPV enthusiasts to have very fast HPV at this event.

My questions are:
- does someone already know the dates of Battle Moutain 2015? We would like to avoid overlapping Paris and Battle Mountain events.
- If the dates are not yet defined, will the IHPVA be able not to choose the same dates as our event?
- Just in case we can choose the dates: would the fastest HPV riders prefer going to Paris before going to Battle Mountain or the opposite?
- If a fast North American HPV team would like to join our event, please get in touch we me. It would be great to have at least one 'champion' from the new continent! We may help for travel fees for a couple of teams.

Our sponsor is currently looking for money. We will confirm the event when we have the money or cancel it at the end of this year.
FYI, we are trying to organize also water and flying HPV races.

JCG: also many of the fastest Battle Mountain bikes would not be able to compete in an event where the track wasn't perfectly straight because they have very limited steering angles.

I believe WHPSC 2015 will be Sept 14-18 since it is the week after the week starting with Labour Day. Al and Alice can confirm.

JCG, Battle Mountain's schedule is based on optimal weather patterns and is probably already scheduled. Also, the expense of BM is substantial and a second expensive trip would be very difficult for any team I know.
But, your event sounds very exciting and I would love to compete.

No big deal. I just wanted people to know that recumbent bikes usually aren't the best choice for short races like 1/10th of a mile. That's why so many people were switching from their recumbent bikes to get faster times.

I did timing in this event. Part of the confusion in bike use is due to riders riding multiple bikes. Because of the limited time between heats and the method used to keep track of riders and record the times, there was not always time to record the switch in bikes. My apologies for any mistakes.

both Toine and Sjaak would still be in the same class mens two wheel under 50 the times posted were the fastest of their runs.

I believe that Toine and Sjaak both used Barclay's Trek bike to get their fastest times. So these results need to be corrected. You can see Toine and Sjaak using the Trek upright bike in the drag race photos.

Apologies have been accepted. We fully understand that it happened in the rush of the evening. No hard feelings!

Jun: Thanks so much for your fine write-ups of BM. We have really enjoyed reading them - and Dave's blog - because of not being able to attend this year.
