Some Older Photographs have resurfaced. Maybe these can help you visualize the Type 6, with it's Kevlar™ Fairings...

My Next Velomobile will be Lower, Longer, a tad Wider, and the corrugated polypropylene known as Coroplast™ will be substituted...

The Type 6 had several Kevlar panels held together with rivets...

The Type 5 had the Nose Section of the Type 6, this was an awful mistake, based on the notion that we could use a system of Interchangeable Parts:

Well, No, these prototypes were by no means perfect... A lot of packing tape was used, and I spray painted right over the packing tape, figuring it would be lighter than Bondo™ (by a wide margin)...
Here's a photo, using the timer on the camera, on a tripod (a selfie!), to show how the rider is supposed to "Tuck".... This would be the Aluminum bodied Type 2, which has since been sold for scrap :

Proper theory or not, even minor flaws in a fairing's surface can determine if the fairing makes you faster with it than without. If you just want to stay warm, cut some windows in a refrigerator box and mount it to your bike. If you want to go faster it has to be shaped right AND smooth. I have seen many "so called" fairings result in no, or negative performance. At which point it is not a fairing as it does not "fair" the air. And if it's purpose isn't speed or weather protection, what is it? Decoration? The beauty of this website, especially with the addition of Wayne's program, is that almost gaurantees you can make an effective fairing. Just follow the irrefutable rules of aerodynamics.

While these may appear to follow the Colombo (Peter Falk) rumpled style, the development is based on sound principles. Each frame size and back angle will require the appropriate variation of the aero shape. A clean tail is a big help.
