Hi Alan,

That was in 2005 with Garrie's helmet cam taped into the inside of the canopy. Sounds like a rocket ship. Ya, some editing would have been good, but I haven't added video producer to my list of talents yet...

Thanks,

-Warren.

Alan;
Yes, each race vehicle has a chase vehicle. However, the rules require the chase vehicle to be about .25 miles behind. This is to make room for the chase to stop (it does take a while to go from 65+ mph to zero ) if the racer has a problem. It is also to physically separate the racer and chaser going through the traps, and thus avoid accidental double trips of the timing system. The last reason has be a problem in the past.

Warren, you better keep a low profile. With the publicity that these websites generate, you could be asked to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno next. For instance (fictional dialogue):

"Ok my next guest is Warren Bowchamp, Boochomp, excuse me Beauchamp. He's pedalled a quite unordinary bicycle 65 mph - a feat captured on video and seen by millions on YouTube.com. Here he is folks, Warren Beauchamp.", Jay announces.

Clap - Clap - Clap from the audience. After the applause dies down, and the Cuda-W is rolled out on the stage...

"Now tell me, what makes you want to do this, I mean build a bike that goes 65 mph, isn't that just crazy?", Jay asks.

"Well Jay, it all started back in the 1930's when they outlawed aerodynamic additions to bicycles...", Warren responds.

"I know, but I mean like what makes a normal person want to put on a helmet, you do wear helmets don't you? ("Oh yeah its part of the rules" - Warren interjects) and pedal one of these things down a highway at 65 mph?", Jay asks.

"Well its a lot of fun", Warren responds.

"And geesh you're a tall guy, how do you fit inside that thing? I mean like what happens if your shoelace comes untied, can you reach forward and tie it?", Jay asks. Crowd laughs.

"Well the guy who holds the record is only about five foot-eight", Warren responds.

"So these aren't like a one size fits all, each one is built for certain cyclist?", Jay asks.

"Yes, its alot of work", Warren responds.

"Well ok folks this video we're about to see first appeared on YouTube.com, and you've had what, like a million hits on it now?", Jay states.

"Something like that", Warren responds.

Up pops the TV monitor behind the seats where Warren and Jay are sitting. The crowd watches a bit.

"Geesh, there's a lot of wind noise in there isn't it?", Jay asks

"Yeah, well we're working on that. Alot of what you're hearing is due to the really thin materials we are using to separate us from the air rushing by, there's no added sound insulation", Warren responds

"Funny, I have to go about 150 mph on my motorcycle just to hear that kind of wind noise over the sound of my tailpipes", Jay comments.

"Jay, you have to realize that there's no difference the speeds we're doing and the speed you can do with that 650cc bike of yours, it's all a matter of cutting through the wind cleanly. You should try one of our bikes sometimes!", Warren states with a smile.

Jay looks over at the Cuda-W, then at his belly with a smile. The crowd laughs.

"OK, I know what you're thinking! In the words of my dearly departed friend Chris Farley, I have a 'little bit of a weight problem!'", Jay responds smiling.

He looks at Kevin in the band. "Kev, you want to try it?", Jay asks.

"Jay, are you crazy man, they'd have to cut off both my arms just to get me in there!", Kevin responds.

"Well ok, if you weren't so huge (with muscles), maybe we could fit you and your guitar in there!", Jay retorts.

"Well ok, there you have it folks. 65 mph on a bicycle! Warren its been a pleasure. Good luck to you!", Jay closes.

"Thanks Jay", Warren says.
