Got this in the email from Amazon today.

reasonable pricing - check
magnetic buckle capable of erasing credit card stripes - check

Well you know how some of those streamliner rides can get to be a little too exciting sometimes. . .

One of our VP's at work started riding to work last year wearing one of these Nutcase Watermelons(almost bought the Evel Knievel). He likes it. It is heavier and less ventilated than a regular bike helmet.

This is the first time I've seen a magnetic buckle (Nutcase). Interesting.

Scored this off ebay tonight...

Bell Vortex Pro short tail aero helmet. Just like the one Eric Ware uses...And Barbara as well.

Ludicrously light...It's got a pump system to inflate a bladder that hugs the back of your cranium.
It has an integrated clear visor.
Best part, the back of the helmet does not interfere with neck support.
Also great that it was in MINT condition.
Eric wearing his bell vortex helmet in 2009 just after breaking 71mph for the first time

Don't agree with that adequate ventilation, I had a Helmet of similar design and it was not adequately ventilated! But it was a fun decoration, I'd love to have a watermelon helmet

I don't think there is a helmet on the planet that isn't going to be absolutely miserable to wear inside a streamliner. When I take out the quest without the flevo roof or the race kap I wear a helmet and its fine. However with the race kap I haven't been wearing a helmet because I don't really see the point. I suppose for calvins coming up though I'm going to have to find a helmet that will work out. Can't the race kap be concidered an integral helmet?

Ok.....I want one of those Bell helmets that Eric has in the photo above. Problem is, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I guess I am looking in all the wrong places. Does anybody have any thoughts........Eric?

I believe Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman had a device called a way-back machine.

It is a time machine. Even when those helmets were made, they were quite rare so you're best chances of finding one are going back in time and searching. It was an early April Fools Day joke.

Ebay.
do searches for...
Vintage aero helmet, Bell Vortex, TT helmet, time trial helmet...Etc...
Do this daily and repeat...
Expect it to take months to find something useful.
And it you get tired of waiting...
Talk your neighbor into letting you use his time travel machine and go back to 1992 and buy one.

I used to have one of those (basic dull black) when I first started rollerblading longer distances. It's okay for a couple of minutes, but it doesn't have enough ventilation for long distance. It's actually not a bike helmet, more of a stunt skate helmet. It's a bit on the heavy side, but that doens't matter when you want to save your brain when hurling down a halfpipe.
