John Morcglio's Tilting Velomobile Prototype #1.

VIDEO: http://youtu.be/ePSAmFWRTVo

This is the old two-wheeled Varna Orphesus shell with a Morcigilo-designed tilting rear-end with 650 wheels, and all new subframe and seat. This is only a prototype to test ideas for a Tilting Velo. John will build his own shell for the Velo he will build. John widened the narrow Orpehus shell somewhat, and will install the top soon for a ride.

On this prototype, the shell is pitched downward only because of the large rear wheels, and John was preserving this Varna shell for conversion back to a two-wheeler (the Varna Orpheus set a world record holder in the 100 KM at 47 mph average speed by Paul Buttemer back in 1998, and reached 64 mph in a sprint at sea-level). John could have chopped up the back end, but choose to preserve the shape.

This was filmed two weeks ago at Island Lake Michigan, on one of the great spring days we've had. I was riding John's M1 carbon lowracer that I bought from him. Chris Evans was riding his Carbon Quest that he just got at the beginning of the year. Chris has put on alot of miles, the most in the state by riding his Velomobile almost daily.

This video was taken by holding a regular sized camera in my hand, a bit scary when we started flying along at 26 mph or so! In some views I show my speedometer - the top line of my display shows the speed.
