I am a machine designer and would like to build a multi-functional / convertible recumbent with about 5 positions for exercise. Recumbent, hand cycling, rowing, etc. If any one knows if anything similar exists now or has any opinion about this project, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

He has modified his LWB for arm and leg power. Seems to have worked out many of the kinks throughout the years.

Louis H's machine looks like it works great. The 2 : 1 ratio between cranks and arms seems bio-mechanically right. Not hard to see how it would very easily boast peak power output. He appears to have hit the design sweet spot. The design could be enclosed in a fairing quite easily as well. Lay back the riding position for reduced frontal area and it would cruise even faster. I know variations have been tried and never panned out but that was because the design wasn't right.
