Next month our annual event Cycle Vision will be held. I would like to invite everybody on this list to compete against the strongest riders in the world! www.cyclevision.nl
For this year, there were some last minute alterations. The track we used last year went bankrupt, so we had to move everything to a new location. At some times that decision seemed total insanity, but thanks to numerous helpers and lots of effort helped by experience we managed.

Jack, it indicates that you will still be racing on the RDW track. Which track went bankrupt?

@Mike, unfortunately one of our best venues so far the "FlevOnice" track went bankrupt http://nos.nl/artikel/373297-ijsbaan-flevonice-failliet-verklaard.html
In winter this great location is used for ice skating, in summer it was rented out for kick bikes, skates and bikes
Our main venue for the moment now is Midland circuit, yes i am sorry, it is a car track, but it gives us room to do everything we want. We can camp on the track itself, it has great catering facilities, it has lots of parking space and numerous other things that we need already there.
They are very willing to co-operate and we have done business with them before, long back when the complete Cycle Vision event was held at RDW which are their neigbours. They have not forgotten us and the way we do things and this opened all doors. They already had an event planned for that weekend but rescheduled and gave us room to fit in.
It is not easy to move the largest recumbent event in the world. We had to find room for stands, trial track, races, camping, lectures and shared meals.
So it was with much luck and determination that we found something else. Afterwards, as i stated, it took lot of hours and quite some effort from our best organisers to switch everything and make a new race programme. I will not tire you more with this story, but in the end i am sure it will work out.

@Jack,

I've read and followed with interest all of the CycleVision events. It is quite extraordinary that some large events in Europe like CV or the world championships can attract sometimes 300 or more recumbent racers. (I remember reading once of an event only having 300 transponders and 318 racers showed up to race in it!)

Here in the US, we are lucky to have 30 recumbent racers at a single event, maybe 50 at most.

It is a great testament to the organizers and volunteers to make such large events such as Cycle Vision happen. I wish I could attend, but unfortunately costs are high to travel from overseas. In fact, I have traveled to Europe. One day, when I become champion in the HPRA race series, perhaps I will travel to Europe to attend.

@Mike,

well distances are shorter here so it is easier to visit without the need to travel for several days. And there are quite a number of recumbents in use, such big population always increases the chance that somebody is a racer instead of tourer or commuter.
We are lucky, people also use velomobiles a lot, even during winter. These riders become extremely strong.
Usually the nvhpv have the same racer numbers as the US events, so 30 people is quite a turnup.

The WC is usually also not that big, about 80 riders, last year in Italy there were 120 as i remember. Cycle Vision is not only a race but also a club event, perhaps people get attracted to the combination of exhibition and meeting.

We do not have 300 racers anymore, racer numbers exceed 200 often, but there is a fierce competition with other races. This year there is a French national championship during the same weekend, and the WC is only a week away from Cycle Vision. Next year the WC will be held in Germany, and also in june.

As i remember the unwritten rule was that the WC should be held during july and august during summer holidays. But in recent years both events are very close in date. I think it is a shame because it is not really nice for people to expect them to choose.

Hello Jack,
Could you tell me where to find the results for the 1 Hour time trials and 200-meter sprints? My Dutch is not so good!

Thanks Thomas,
Could you help me verify if all of these vehicles were three-wheeled velomobiles? Also I do not know the Rider's Nation for the riders listed below...

This One Hour Time Trial has produced 14 entries for my Fastest List. I think that is a record for one race.
And it seems that Daniel Fenn has set a new UNOFFICIAL Trike Single Rider One Hour record! He broke the Vector Single Rider Trike mark set by Gerhardt Scheller back in 1983. The location of this record was not in Bolivia, but at a low-altitude location. I still have to correct this on the Fastest List

Mike, thanks for listing this info. I find all of your lists and trivia very interesting. One remarable bit of trivia that might deserve and asterisk is that(I think) Wim Schermer is in his sixties!

Thank you Jan-Marcel and Greg for this info! I truly appreciate it! I have updated my Fastest Lists. One of these days I will try to learn Dutch, German, Swiss, Belgium, French, Italian, etc, etc, till then I have to rely on everyone, or Google translator which gets it right probably less than 50% of the time!

One more bit of trivia...
Erik Marynissen is the two-time Belgium One Hour NATIONAL RECORD HOLDER!! Can anyone name the first, perhaps a little bit famous, Belgium Hour Record holder? Hint: He rode one of those "classic" bicycles!

Very cool observation JJ!
Yes EM = Eddy Merckx or Erik Marynissen, both Beligum One-Hour record holders!
