ASME HPVC West Coast Competition will be held April 12-14th, 2013 in San Jose, CA. Please check the ASME website for the most up to date information. We look forward to seeing all of the teams compete and hope that if you are in the area you can come out to support the teams and watch the events.

See the note below from Dr. Mark Archibald, chair of ASME HPVC regarding important changes to the event.

The recent federal budget cuts, known as the sequester, have affected NASA facilities, and in particular NASA Ames. Unfortunately, we recently received word from NASA Ames that they would be unable to
host the HPVC due to these budget cuts. We are no longer able to use any NASA facilities. ASME and San Jose State University have been working diligently to locate appropriate substitute race venues.
With less than four weeks until the competition, this was a daunting task. I am pleased to announce that they have been successful in locating suitable facilities.

Two new venues will be used: San Jose State University campus and the Hellyer County Park Velodrome.
The sprint race will be held in the Olympic sized velodrome on the evening of Friday, April 12. Due to scheduling conflicts with the velodrome, the times of the design event and sprint event have been
changed as well. The remaining events will be held in a Park and Ride lot on the San Jose State University south campus, adjacent to the Spartan Stadium. The velodrome should be an exciting location for the sprint race, and the very large Park and Ride lot at SJSU will more than accommodate our needs. Please make note of the revised locations and schedule. Registration and the safety check will be held
on the SJSU campus between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Friday, April 12. We request help from all teams in completing the safety check quickly in order to start the sprint event on schedule. Please be
prepared for the safety check at the time of registration.

I look forward to seeing you in San Jose.

Sincerely,
Mark Archibald
Chair, ASME HPVC

Addresses of new venues:
San Jose State University (South Campus Park and Ride Lot)is located at:
South 7th Street between Humboldt and Alma Streets, 8 blocks south of the main campus, across from Spartan Stadium
