FRIDAY EVENING Achievements List...

NEARLY A WORLD RECORD by Rik Houwers but not to be disappointed, A TRIKE WORLD RECORD by Gareth Hanks, and lots of PERSONAL BESTS including Teagan Patterson, Todd Reichert, Peter Borenstadt, Ellen van Vugt, Vadim Dunaev, Alexey Kristaev. A night of perfect weather helped lots of folks to get new Hats... Thanks Jo No for the excellent results from Timing, and your blog from which I gathered much of this information about the runs.

Saturday Morning Achievements List

Personal bests in cold early-morning conditions for Damjan and Christien! She even ran twice in 90 minutes. Damjan moves up 3 spots on the all-time fastest humans list to 6th place. Christien is in 3rd place now on the ladies list. How fast can they go with more rest and warmer weather!? Alan cracks the 35 mph barrier with his hand-powered Slippery Slug and remains as the 2nd fastest hand-cyclist of all time! AeroVelo's Eta has some troubles with their broken carbon fiber blades over metal spokes. Note: their studies had shown that this configuration should be faster than a disk wheel when rotating within a wheel enclosure, hence they kept trying.

SATURDAY Evening Achivements List... Damjan new Personal Best and so close to 80 mph (0.02 mph below but wind not legal), Gareth Hanks new Trike Best (but wind not legal), Barbara Buatois 0.02 mph over record (but wind not legal). Greg Thomas new Trike Personal Best, Alan Grace, new Hand Cycle Personal Best. Rik Houwers unfortunate with flat tires, did not start. All competitors faced high winds which would have made records not legal.

Jun: Thanks so much for your fine write-ups of BM. We have really enjoyed reading them - and Dave's blog - because of not being able to attend this year.

Jean-Charles' listing is correct. When awarding the three fastest men this year, we did not take into account whether a run had legal wind or not, and so Jan Marcel should have been in third place. Apologies to him!

Apologies have been accepted. We fully understand that it happened in the rush of the evening. No hard feelings!

Cheers,

I believe that Toine and Sjaak both used Barclay's Trek bike to get their fastest times. So these results need to be corrected. You can see Toine and Sjaak using the Trek upright bike in the drag race photos.

I did timing in this event. Part of the confusion in bike use is due to riders riding multiple bikes. Because of the limited time between heats and the method used to keep track of riders and record the times, there was not always time to record the switch in bikes. My apologies for any mistakes.

No big deal. I just wanted people to know that recumbent bikes usually aren't the best choice for short races like 1/10th of a mile. That's why so many people were switching from their recumbent bikes to get faster times.

Hi,
We would like to organize HPV speed races in Paris along the Seine river in September 2015 (middle of the month). It would be more a mediatised event than an opportunity to break records. Anyway, I think it would be interesting for both riders and HPV enthusiasts to have very fast HPV at this event.

My questions are:
- does someone already know the dates of Battle Moutain 2015? We would like to avoid overlapping Paris and Battle Mountain events.
- If the dates are not yet defined, will the IHPVA be able not to choose the same dates as our event?
- Just in case we can choose the dates: would the fastest HPV riders prefer going to Paris before going to Battle Mountain or the opposite?
- If a fast North American HPV team would like to join our event, please get in touch we me. It would be great to have at least one 'champion' from the new continent! We may help for travel fees for a couple of teams.

Our sponsor is currently looking for money. We will confirm the event when we have the money or cancel it at the end of this year.
FYI, we are trying to organize also water and flying HPV races.

JCG, Battle Mountain's schedule is based on optimal weather patterns and is probably already scheduled. Also, the expense of BM is substantial and a second expensive trip would be very difficult for any team I know.
But, your event sounds very exciting and I would love to compete.

I believe WHPSC 2015 will be Sept 14-18 since it is the week after the week starting with Labour Day. Al and Alice can confirm.

JCG: also many of the fastest Battle Mountain bikes would not be able to compete in an event where the track wasn't perfectly straight because they have very limited steering angles.

not likely an established event would change their date to accommodate a one off promotion event

A well known french record setting woman, Barbara Buatois, may be interested in your event
