What are the rules concerning reusing bikes from previous competition years?

No rules against it, AFAIK.
PS- I'm looking for the thread, in which a newbie was looking for information about linear drive, and this link may be of interest:

the ASME rules, as far as I remember, are that you cannot reuse a bike that has competed in the last 4 years. Also, if you are reusing a bike, expect a big penalty in the design score

Hello Ventrelj,

According to Section V Subsection F of the 2016 ASME HPVC Rules, "Design credit will only be given for work done during the current academic year." Further clarification can be found in that section.
