I am wondering what happened to the guy that posted that he was going to do a sub 4 hour century in a year, but could not do it on his DF. I think he was from upstate NY. I would like to know if he came close, or not. Thom, you know anything?

Yes thatís right more than once!! On a unfaired recumbent bike on the street!!
Thom I sure thought that I was going to have to build a street liner in order to do a sud-4 hr century!!
Thanks for the most excellent coaching and bike building expertise!!

Not my cup of tea, centuries that is. It is funny though how someone just pops up and tells everyone what he is going to do, then falls off the planet! Ha. If it is over 10 miles, count this old man out. 5k and 10k are even better. I am doing the 5k, 10k, and 20k at the local senior games next month. I'll probably suck as I haven't been able to train with being sick for so long. No excuses though. I'll go as hard as I can, which is not much.

What do you mean? If you are asking if I rode in it, no, I was sick. I asked the question if anyone with a fast HPV wanted to try http://recumbents.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6809 . No takers. I really don't think I could hold out for the whole century. I might make it to the 60 mile marker. How about you Tony, you want to try?

John, at 65 and my health, no way I could hold up for a fast century. 10k is about my limit. I will continue to try and sprint, even that is slowing down!

I live in Upstate NY and I have not heard much of anything on timed road events of any kind lately. There are charity events and BMX races. One would need a very good aero package and proper training to maintain that speed on a DF. Somebody half my age and half my weight would be a good candidate. Jerry has persuaded me to consider a corovelo if I am going to spend 4 hours on the road.

A friend of our group did a 3:24 century on a df. He's a top coach and rider, but he didn't do the ride in upstate NY! As fast as John and his bike are, he was several months into a very well designed training plan before he cracked four. But, he did do it on a ten mile back and forth route. Nobody breaks four without the full package of ability, months or years of dedicated training, and a fast ride. If you lack any of those you won't make it.

Oh yeah, it is not about the bike, but doping. Geez, I should be pretty fast then, I am plenty dope-y!

Thom, hopefully next week we find out if it is the bike or not! I just hope I am strong enough to ride the NoCom. I might have to use my grandson's training wheels. Ha ha.

Update! My bike has been in Fort Worth for two days now, yet I just got an email saying it will not be here until tomorrow. It is less than 10 miles from here. Way to go FedEx! Looks like I will be taking a double dose of my anxiety medicine tonight! Ha ha.

Rear wheel is here, the bike was left in Hutchins, TX, 98 miles away. They say it will be here tomorrow. I think I will go stand out in the rain and have a few drinks!

Man, that sure is pretty! I will almost have an extra chain when I fit the bike to me. I think one of Warren's legs are longer than both of mine put together!
