See you in eight days. I thought you might like the additional notes I included on Greg Westlake.

From the 2018 Battle Mountain preview.
Update: “Bob” is broken, so it is not clear what she will ride. Bummer. From Garrie:: Garrie says he was out riding Bob, had a wildlife malfunction (white tail deer, buck) ran out in front of me, and went off the rail/trail path. Dropped several inches (six or eight) off the asphalt into the B8 limestone (chunks the size of your fist) and went seriously/violently horizontal. The frame broke in front of the frame joiner (joint to allow Bob to be separated into two pieces for travel), the crank and 80 tooth chain ring as toast, and the special carbon/Nomex front drive fork with the Rolhoff hub broke. Lots of other stuff, as well; but the Readers Digest version is three or four months of work to redo.

Did the Gary break also?

The Garrie learned the following things:

1). I have never bounced off the pavement very well. At age 66, even less so.

2) In 66 years, I have compiled a list of imaginative ways to hurt my body. The list is now n + 1.

3). Duluth Trading work jeans are REALLY heavy duty! Not as comfortable to ride in as your standard Lycra shorts; but they saved my ass ( literally) with no road rash. Just some sore hip areas and some bruising.

4). Don’t change that “ one last thing “ just before Battle Mountain. What could go wrong? Oh, pretty much everything.

5). White tail deer in Ohio are vermin.

Sorry to hear that, the bike looked wicked fast. But it is a very good thing that you are relatively unscathed! Do heal up.

Glad you're okay Garrie. And there's always "one last thing".

No. Last year beat me up pretty good. I'll be crewing for Larry this time.
