Big Rock Clubs - Euchre Club and Lions Club meet monthly.
Farmer’s Markets - Big Rock held 2 farmer’s markets during 2007, and may
add additional dates in 2008. Other nearby towns offering farmer’s
markets are Aurora, Batavia, Sugar Grove and Yorkville.
Shopping in Geneva and Aurora - Whether you like shopping at the
well-known department stores or high-end retail stores on Randall Road,
or prefer perusing the more unique, quaint, little shops and boutiques in the downtown
area, you will love spending a day with your friends strolling the
streets of Geneva and having a quiet, leisurely lunch at one of the many
cozy restaurants. Or, if you prefer outlet malls, Chicago Premium Outlet
Mall is about 30 minutes away in Aurora.
Kane County Flea Market – Located in St. Charles, this takes place the
first weekend of each month and is the ideal place to bargain for a wide
array of items, both antique and more traditional, to decorate your
vintage home. Over 1,000 dealers participate in this event.
Sandwich Antiques Market – Held one Sunday a month, April through
October. Exhibitors come from many states, selling antiques and
collectibles, including both rustic and refurbished items.
Live Theatres – A large variety of concerts are offered at nearby
theatres including bluegrass, classical, country, instrumental, pop, and even, from time to time, some grammy award-winning performers. Plays
and musicals are scheduled throughout the year as well.
Country Fairs – Kane County Fair, Elburn Days, Sandwich Fair and Big
Rock Plowing Match feature livestock, baking, handiwork, gardening and
plowing competitions with added parades, concerts, demolition derbies,
and rodeo grandstand events, as well as carnival rides.
Unique Variety of Collectors’ Shows, Tournaments, and Festivals - Held
throughout the year at both the Kane County Fairgrounds and Sandwich

minutes’ drive, host Christmas house walks at the beginning of the
Christmas season.
Big Rock Park – A paved walking trail, basketball, volleyball and tennis
courts, baseball and soccer fields and a pavilion complete with picnic
tables are available.
Big Rock Forest Preserve – Located 3.5 miles away, with fishing,
horseback riding and hiking trails.
Phillips Park – Located in Aurora, this 325+-acre park has a small zoo,
mastodon gallery, sunken garden, picnic areas, aquatic center, and
winter recreation area.
Golfing – An out-in-the-country 9-hole course is located just 3 miles
away, and six 18-hole courses are within 9 miles.
Putt-putt golf and driving range can be found 15 minutes away in Sugar
Grove, and right beside it, a family fun center with go-karts and water
tubing for the kids.
Hinckley Airport – About 15 minutes away, the Hinckley Airport offers
glider rides and skydiving for the more adventurous.
Biking - Enjoy the fresh air and vast open countryside as you take an
energizing bike ride on one of the many nicely paved, not-too-busy
county roads.

Aurora University offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate-degree

Northern Illinois University is a public university in DeKalb, IL (with
a number of satellite campuses) offering undergraduate and master’s

Waubonsee Community College has campuses in Sugar Grove and Aurora and
offers two-year degree programs, on-line courses and non-credit courses
for all ages. Also offers a variety of recreational day trips and
world-wide extended tours.
