Bike New York - FREE front line passes for recumbent riders
The unfortunate thing about Bike NY being the largest organized bike tour in the country is that it's the largest organized bike tour in the country. Between 30 and 45 thousand cyclists cram the concrete canyons of lower Manhattan shortly after dawn that day. It's a huge party. It can also be a huge hassle if you're stuck in the middle of it.

It is our great fortune that the organizers have seen fit to give we recumbent riders a break, by making free front-line passes available. This doesn't mean you ride for free -- you still have to register and pay your fee -- but it does mean that you get to start at the front of the line, which is nice.

Getting a pass is simple, but you need to do it this way or you're NOT going to get one!

How to get a free pass:

1) Register and pay BEFORE April 7.
2) After you've registered, send an email to Ted Calamia at:

tedc@bikenewyork.org

The email should say:

"I have registered for Bike New York on (indicate the date on which you registered) by (indicate online, mail or fax) and will be riding a recumbent. Please send me a front-line pass."

Add your name and address (the same one you put on your registration).

3) Ted will check the info in the email against the registration list, and will put passes in the mail on or about April 16. They will go out separately from the registration packet with your vest, and will arrive much later. Every year it seems as if the pass won't arrive in time, but it always does.
4) It is also possible to walk in to the main office at 891 Amsterdam Avenue, NYC, NY 10025 and get a pass in person, but only up to April 16, and then only if there are any left.
