| Back to the primary meeting spot directions page Back to the main page for this ride Driving directions: North County Trailway, Westchester (Revised 3/22/03) There are two alternate meeting spots south of Millwood: Pleasantville and Eastview. Of the two, Eastview is probably better because there's more parking and it's easier to find. Neither one has facilities or stores within walking distance. Jump to Eastview directions Jump to Pleasantville directions ALTERNATE MEETING SPOT 1: EASTVIEW, NY (back to top) The Eastview meeting place is about 3.75 miles south of Pleasantville, just off Exit 23 of the Saw Mill Parkway. Eastview marks the southern end of the paved portion of the North County Trailway. There is an additional spur trail here, 1.2 miles long, that skirts the Tarrytown reservoirs. There is ample parking at Eastview. Maps Maps of the Eastview meeting spot are available Click HERE to see an overview map Click HERE to see a close-up map Directions to Eastview From NJ and upstate NY via the Tappan Zee Bridge: - Go across the bridge. - Continue on 287/87 - Take Exit 8 to I-287 (Cross Westchester Pkwy). - Get off the very next exit to Saw Mill Pkwy/Taconic Pkwy North.The exit comes up quick. Be prepared! This should be exit 1, however, because of the recent construction, the sign may have been removed. Off the exit, bear left and continue to the Saw Mill Parkway. - Take Exit 23 off of the Saw Mill. - Turn LEFT at the bottom of the ramp. Go under the parkway. The lot will be about 100 yards down on your right, just past the DOT yard. If you drive past the waterfall, you've gone too far. From NYC/South: There are a couple of options, due to the complex nature of the roads in Westchester. Which one you pick depends on exactly where you're coming from. These directions will get you there, but it might be wise to carry a map anyway. - via the Saw Mill: - Take the Saw Mill Parkway to Exit 23. - Turn LEFT at the bottom of the ramp. Go under the parkway. The lot will be about 100 yards down on your right, just past the DOT yard. If you drive past the waterfall, you've gone too far. - via the Sprain Brook: - Take the Sprain Brook Parkway to the exit for 100C. - Turn LEFT at the top of the ramp. - Follow 100C. After about a mile, it will cross 9A, then pass literally underneath an office building that straddles the road. - Immediately after this, there will be an old railroad trestle and the Saw Mill Parkway. - The lot will be another 100 yards or so down on your right, just past the DOT yard. If you drive past the waterfall, you've gone too far. From coastal CT/East: - Take I-287, the Cross Westchester Expressway, to Exit 3 (Sprain Brook Parkway). - From this exit, head to the Sprain Brook North. - Turn LEFT at the top of the ramp. - Follow 100C. After about a mile, it will cross 9A, then pass literally underneath an office building that straddles the road. - Immediately after this, there will be an old railroad trestle and the Saw Mill Parkway. - The lot will be another 100 yards or so down on your right, just past the DOT yard. From the north (Massachusetts, Putnam and Duchess counties) - Take the Taconic State Parkway South to the Saw Mill Parkway South. - Take Exit 23, Eastview. - Turn RIGHT at the bottom of the ramp. The lot will be about 100 yards down on your right, just past the DOT yard. If you pass the waterfall, you've gone too far.

Just after the intersection of 9A and 100 (about a quarter mile from the exit ramp), look for the parking lot on your left. The alternate parking lot at Graham Hills Park is a right turn off the exit, immediately across the street from Pace U. The alternate parking lot at Graham Hills Park is a right turn off the exit, immediately across the street from Pace U. - via the Saw Mill: - Take the Saw Mill Parkway to the exit for 9A, which should be Exit 24... we're not sure if it has a number (Mapquest doesn't show one, but it is definitely the exit AFTER Exit 23, which is Eastview). - Turn LEFT off the exit and follow 9A. This turns into a divided highway after about a mile or so. - Take the Rt. 117 exit for Pleasantville. This is a LEFT exit. - Turn LEFT onto 117 WEST. Look for the lot on your left. The alternate parking lot at Graham Hills Park is a right turn off the exit, immediately across the street from Pace U. From coastal CT/East: - Take I-287, the Cross Westchester Expressway, to Exit 3 (Sprain Brook Parkway towards the Taconic). - From this exit, head to the Sprain Brook North, and follow it until it becomes the Taconic. - Take the Rt. 117 exit off of the Taconic and turn left onto 117 WEST. Just after the intersection of 9A and 100, look for the parking lot on your left. The alternate parking lot at Graham Hills Park is a right turn off the exit, immediately across the street from Pace U. From points north (Massachusetts, Putnam and Duchess counties) - Take the Taconic State Parkway South. Unfortunately, there is no exit for 117 from the Taconic in this direction, so you have to get off early and drive down Rt. 100. Take the 100/133 exit (a left-lane exit) for Millwood and Briarcliff Manor. Turn LEFT off the exit and follow 100 SOUTH until you see the exit for 117 (five or six miles... look for glimpses of the Trailway along the way). Turn RIGHT off the 117 exit; the lot will be on your immediate left. |
