Mike Mowett Was Here

This is a little prank that Larry and I did on the Cygnus team. Unfortunately we weren't quick enough and got busted right at the very end while I was taking the picture.

Greg Westlake in Avos Arrow

This is one of my favorite photos for the competition. Greg went faster this year than last. I'm sure he'll be going over 50 mph next year.

Greg Westlake in Avos Arrow 2

Another great shot of Greg powering this wonderful machine. You can just see him peaking out.
Jan Marcel in Cygnus

This amazing new bike has a periscope to see through. This is something that I have done some experiments with last year, and might use on my own design.

Sam and George

This was taken on the last night of the competition. Sam was completely exhausted. He had given it his all in order to take back top position for the competition. Unfortunately the conditions didn't allow for fast times.
Eric Ware in the Wedge

You can see on the back where Mark and Eric added an extension to the canopy in order to gain some more speed. With some more development this might help. Eric was going extremely fast every time he hit the road even without the extension.

Ron Layman and Carole

Ron was just finishing up another fast run. On the last night of the competition he went over 70 mph.
Ron Layman in Primal 2

George Leone designed this streamliner. His experience in surfboard shaping, and other designs, has allowed him to make some extremely aerodynamic bikes.

Gardner Martin Remembered

In this box resides a little of Gardner Martin's ashes, and maybe some spirit as well. The box is brought to the catch area every day. He hasn't left our thoughts.
Jun and Preston

Jun must have told a good joke because I don't remember Preston laughing this much during the competition. They are both our well appreciated, and respected timers for the competition.

Vortex

This is the University of Toronto's ASME competition bike. Also it's surprisingly fast, and fits many sizes. All four team members recieved awards for their speed achievments. Todd Reichert powered it to over 70 mph every night.
Mark Anderson

Mark has a great humor. Not everything that we do at this competition is serious. Mark works together with Eric to keep the Wedge breaking 70 mph on almost every 5 mile run.

Team Avos Arrow

Time for a little picnic in the parking lot. Maybe next year I'll do the same. That food looks good.
Kara and Larry

Two of the racers enjoying the day during our group photo session.

Team Firefly

James, Tiffany, and Kara pose with their trike. Don Schroeder has thought this trike out well, and it surves as a great platform for getting down the road in a hurry.
Team Wedge

John, Eric, and Mark all work great together to make this one of the fastest bikes of the competition.

Team Cygnus

David, Jan Marcel, Thomas, and Sugar all ham it up for the camera. They are pretending to be a bobsled team.
Team Cygnus 2

Here's the serious pose for the camera. Well, as serious as you could expect his team to be.

Team Vortex

Time for a little fun with the guys from Toronto. From left to right we have Aiden, Todd, Victor, Trefor, and Jun. They all had there chance to run this beautiful machine down SR 305.
Colorful Streamliners

Just to show that they come in many colors, shapes, and sizes.

Vortex, Primal 2, Flying Cucumber, Firefly, Wedge, Avos Arrow, Velox, and part of a Varna. It's so cool to see how many ways you can shape a speedbike.

Another gorgeous cloud shows over the distance with the suns rays piercing through.

Thomas celebrates with Victor

Thomas and Victor in the catch area. I don't know what Thomas was going on about, Maybe their bike went over 70 mph?
Greg Westlake

Here's Greg powering through the traps if I remember right. I was in several places throughout the week so this could have been catch.

Todd doing his warmdown

Scott, Larry, Victor, and Aiden all gather around for stories about fast bikes.
Todd stops for a pose

Battle Mountain has great backdrops for photos. Todd just finished up another one of his powerful runs.

Larry warms up

You can see the Delft Team's vans approaching in the distance. This was taken up at the start of the track.
Scott Wilson in a Pickle

The Cucumber manages to consume another individual. If we could keep the hair out of moving parts Scott might be able to ride this bike.

Larry contemplates the airworthyness of his new vehicle prior to arriving at Battle Mountain.
Nevada Dessert

This was taken on the way out to Battle Mountain. The desert offers some amazing photo opportunities. Make sure to have a camera ready at all times. I missed a giant dust devil on the way because I couldn't drag my camera out fast enough.
